Central London River Eco Tour - Westminster to Docklands with Russia Dock Woodland and Stave Hill Ecology Park.
In this eco tour as we pass through the city we concentrate on the ecology of the River Thames, the great wildlife corridor running through the heart of London. We also also pass the sites of London - The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and Tower Bridge before walking down river on the Riverside Thames Path, heading out of the city and walk around the curve in the Thames which cuts your view off as you look east from the centre, on to London’s “Docklands”.
We check out Russia Dock Woodland and Stave Hill Ecology Park, two small natural oases nestling in the surrounding city. These are a couple of great little wildlife parks which show how much can be done for habitat restoration. Originally docks used for importing timber from Norway, Russia and Sweden, The sites were filled in and planted as native grass areas, and have a series of water channels and ponds providing habitats for a whole ecosystem which includes kingfishers and herons.
The finish point is near to Canada Water Tube station, where we can show you to a great local pub on the river where we can have a lovely meal or drink overlooking the Thames, or return you to the underground station for a short hop back to central London.
